Building a solid online reputation can be a great way to market your book. This can be done by asking others to help you with your marketing. This could be friends, family, your launch party, or even online influencers. You probably have many people in your circle that would like to see you succeed. They might not know how they can help you though! That’s why you need to make it easy for others to help you.
We’ve created a simple acronym to help you build a reputation for your book online. Remember to make things EASY for your supporters. In this post, we’re going to talk about how you can Explain, Aid, use Systems, and do Your part to show up.
Explain How They Can Help You
The first step to getting others to help is telling them exactly what to do. You can share links to your book and tell them which ones you prefer shared. If you have graphics available, you can drop them into Google Drive or Dropbox and share the link for others to use. Reviews are a great way to build an online reputation for your book. When asking others to leave a review, give them clear directions on where to leave the review and when to leave the review.
Aid Your Supporters in Remembering Important Dates
People usually have a lot on their plate and can be forgetful. Not everyone writes all the details down. This means that some of your biggest supporters could use a friendly reminder when important dates draw near. This could be your launch day, the day you’d like to see a review posted, or an important guest appearance you’ve invited them to attend. A friendly personal reminder will keep your important dates fresh in their mind. Reminders can be done through email, text, or even in person. Pick the method that works best for your supporters.
Set Up Systems
The term systems may seem overwhelming but it simply means being organized and having a method for things. This could be as simple as having a script to share with potential supporters. If you’re looking for speaking opportunities and interviews, you can set up a calendar through (preferred scheduler? Maybe affiliate link?) an online scheduler. This makes it easy for people to sign up for a time to talk with you.
You Need to Show Up
If you want people to support you, then you need to support their efforts. They need to see that you’re dedicated to your book and to them. This could be as simple as showing up for a scheduled call or interview. When you don’t show up, you’re telling the other person that you’re not dedicated and you don’t value their time. Time and connections are very valuable as you’re building the reputation for your book.
These are just a few simple ways that you can make it easy for others to support you. There are many different ways that people can help you build your reputation online. If you’d like to learn more about building a reputation for your book, check out (free group? Marketing course?).
