There are many different tactics for spreading the word about your book launch day, but one of the tools we use with our authors every time is called Thunderclap.
Thunderclap is a social sharing site that allows you to put together something like a mini-press release, and allows you to invite friends, families, and others to join you to spread the word about your book release, project, new podcast show… whatever it is you want to tell the world about.
It works like this. You set up your page and provide your information. You share it with your friends and family. If they choose to support you, they will allow Thunderclap to post a message on their Facebook profile, Twitter or Tumblr account, or all 3. All the messages are posted on the same day at the same time – so it makes a big boom across social media.
It’s important to note that you have to explain a bit to people that it’s only a one-time post and they can revoke access if they are concerned.
This is a great way to get your book or message in front of a whole audience you would not otherwise have access to.
There are free and paid options of Thunderclap. You can use the free option, but you have to gather at least 100 supporters by the campaign day or it will not send out your message. So make sure you get 100+ supporters!

You can add images, information about your project, or in our case, book launch, information about the organizer/author, and you create a prescripted message that includes all of the key information. For a book launch, obviously you want to mention the title of the book, the release day, a good hashtag that you can use to track activity when the campaign is shared, and naturally, a link to WHERE you want to send people. Which, on Launch Day is usually your Amazon page.
Start sharing it with everyone you know to get to 100+ supporters.
Watch your message post all over the place on the specified date and time.
