To Achieve it, you must BELIEVE it – Entrepreneurial Mindset for the Writer

Do you ever have a hard time believing that you are not worth the success that you are looking for?

Maybe you don’t feel like you’re a good enough writer, or you don’t pitch well enough, or you don’t know enough…

Or do you believe that you ARE a writer entrepreneur, and you can and will make a living (a GOOD living) by being a writer?

There are tons of reasons that we don’t succeed in our goals as writers and entrepreneurs. And LOTS of them come from not having the right mindset. If you don’t believe that you are going to be successful, or that you are worthy of deserving success, who else is going to believe it?

There are all sorts of articles and tips for how to get into the writing mindset. How to stop writer’s block, get creativity flowing, and find ways to focus on the words. But how often do you think about getting into the writer entrepreneur mindset? Do you consider yourself a business person, or just a writer? Because in today’s world, if you’re going to make it as a writer, you must acknowledge the business side.

Maybe you have no interest in running the business around your writing. But you SHOULD. It’s a matter of mindset.

Carol Dweck, a psychologist at Standford University, writes about two contrasting mindsets, fixed mindset and growth mindset. Dweck says:

“In a fixed mindset, people believe their basic qualities, like their intelligence or talent, are simply fixed traits. They spend their time documenting their intelligence or talent instead of developing them. They also believe that talent alone creates success—without effort. They’re wrong.

“In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment. Virtually all great people have had these qualities.”

“Think how you would like to BECOME,” says Jim Cathcart in this TEDEx video about believing in yourself. Are you thinking like what you want to become?

Are you ready to get in the entrepreneurial mindset? If so, you MUST register for this free, upcoming summit that focuses on being a writer entrepreneur and the business mindset.
